LIBRARY CARD

  • STEP 1. PRE-REGISTRATION

    Library cards categories: for 1 year, for 6 months, for 1 month.

    1-day passes are no longer issued!

    The 1-month pass does not require pre-registration and is obtained exclusively in physical format at the Library headquarters, Registration Office.

    To obtain the 6-month or 1-year BNaR access card, complete the PRE-REGISTRATION FORM with the requested data. This step is mandatory regardless of whether you chose to obtain online the digital or physical card, at the Library headquarters. For more information, see the tutorials section.

     

  • STEP 2. FEES

    The current fees for issuing access cards to the services of the National Library of Romania can be found here.

    A 50% reduced fee applies to pupils, students and retirees. Library cards issuance fees:

    - 1-year access card: 300 RON/ reduced 150 RON

    - 6-month access card: 180 RON/ reduced 90 RON

    - 1-month access card: 40 RON/ reduced 20 RON

  • STEP 3. PAYMENT

    Payment for the card will be made physically at the National Library headquarters by cash/bank card payment or online through the platform Ghișeul.ro

    Payment for the 1-month library card is made only at the library headquarters, Registration Office.

  • STEP 4. VALIDATION

    Access card validation is mandatory and is only available after the user has pre-registered. Validation can be done:

    1. physically, at the library headquarters at the Registration Office

    2. online, using the bibnat.ro platform

  • STEP 4. ONLINE VALIDATION

    Online validation of the access card is available to users who have pre-registered and made the payment through Ghișeul.ro

    To do this, fill out the form below and upload the following files with:

    1. proof of online payment generated by the Ghișeul.ro platform;

    2. a photo of yourself, such as an ID card one;

    3. a clear photo or scanned image of your ID card

    4. for a 50% reduced fee (students, students, retirees) a scanned and clear copy of the student ID card for the current year, a valid student certificate, a pension evidence must be uploaded.

If you wish to access the BNaR open study spaces, until you obtain the validated card status, we are waiting for you at the Library headquarters where you will be able to present, at the Security Office, the non-validated digital card (from your phone) along with the proof of online payment.

The digital card will be validated by the BNaR team within a maximum of 3 business days. The validation confirmation will be sent to you (to the email address entered in the form when you made the online validation request).

Once you have completed the online pre-registration form, within 5 calendar days you must go to the NLR headquarters to validate your card or send the files requested for validation online.

Once this deadline is exceeded, your data is deleted and you will have to fill out the form again. If you have already made the payment, keep/save the proof of payment.

The access card allows you to benefit from the following facilities:

  • entrance to the National Library of Romania;
  • free internet access;
  • access to the free spaces dedicated to study or reading;
  • access to the reading rooms;
  • borrowing (reading) publications from the Library’s collections in the reading rooms;
  • attending the Library’s public events, within the limits of the available space and seats;
  • visiting exhibitions.

No, this is not necessary. You are already part of the Library’s user database, your data has already been entered. Repeat Step 2 and Step 3 in which you will only attach proof of payment through ghișeul.ro and a photo of your ID card or simply go to the Registration Office to renew the card. Pay the amount required for this service and you’re done.
